Bio/statistical service

The FAST service has decided to activate, on an experimental basis, a bio/statistical service to support the ISS colleagues in their research activity. [link]

The service is made up of a network of ISS researchers belonging to different structures (departments and centers) that generously make their skills in biostatistics and part of their time available to their colleagues.

Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR - Biacore)

strumento.jpeg

The Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) technique allows studying the interactions between a ligand and putative substates anchored onto a gold-chip, in a pM range of the bulk, with a very high sensibility (few pg/mm²).

We make use of the Biacore X100 (Cytiva) instrument: https://www.cytivalifesciences.com/en/us/shop/protein-analysis/spr-label-free-analysis/systems/biacore-x100-p-05730

Service for the identification and quantification of algal toxins in aquatic and tissue matrices

ELISA spectrophotometric reader Cyanobacteria are a key group responsible for environmental problems associated with anthropogenic eutrophication processes. They are prokaryotic photosynthetic organisms, which can produce a wide variety of toxic secondary metabolites, known as cyanotoxins.

The Service was set up to respond to the growing requests for help, from ARPA and national IZS, in the detection and identification of freshwater, marine and mixed environment biotoxins, present in aqueous matrix or concentrated in flora and fauna.
