Signal analysis




The EPR spectrum of a paramagnetic center (radical, metals, crystalline defects, ...) contains information on the structure and molecular dynamics of the center and its surroundings. 

This information can be extracted from the spectrum shape by using specifically developed software based mainly on the simulations of the spin Hamiltonian interactions.</description>

Metals and metalloproteins

Transition metals (iron, copper, manganese, cobalt, ...) are paramagnetic because of the incomplete electron orbital. In some oxidation states, transition metals may however lose paramagnetic properties.

EPR spectroscopy can then detect the presence of transition metals for example in the contamination of materials (eg from chromium, iron or manganese) or in macromolecules (metalloproteins).</description>

Ionizing and non-ionizing radiations induce stable radicals in solid matrices. EPR allows a qualitative and quantitative evaluation of such radiation-induced radicals which act as indicators of exposure.
